Anna Kleinau, our colleague from Germany, has published a wonderful article in the International Journal of Medical Informatics about RUBIN, the system behind the user interface of the ENDORISK model.
RUBIN is a digital tool that helps doctors with medical decisions. The system uses artificial intelligence to calculate risks based on patient data, for example for uterine cancer or cardiovascular disease. Importantly, doctors do not need any technical knowledge to use it. RUBIN shows not only a prediction but also which data influence that prediction.
The system is flexible and can be adapted to various medical situations. User tests with the ENDORISK model show that healthcare providers find RUBIN highly usable. The researchers conclude that AI in healthcare is particularly useful when it is understandable and practically applicable.
